In a blog celebrating one year of the PlayStation 5, Sony has revealed the top 10 most-played games during the console’s first year, based on gameplay hours:

  1. Fortnite
  2. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  3. FIFA 21
  4. NBA 2K21
  5. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  6. Destiny 2
  7. MLB The Show 21
  8. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  9. Demon’s Souls
  10. NBA 2K22

Fortnite has received more gameplay hours than any other game available on the PS5, including ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’, ‘FIFA 21’ and ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales’. The data reveal is a nice reminder of how big Fortnite still is, even 4 years after the launch of its popular Battle Royale gamemode.

More than 4.6 billion hours of gameplay have been played across all games in the first year of the PS5, with more than 26 million hours of content broadcast. All the data used to calculate the top 10 games was collected from November 12, 2020 to September 30, 2021. Over this time, Fortnite has gone through Season 4 to Season 8 of Chapter 2 and has even seen a major graphics upgrade for the PS5 and new Xbox consoles.
